<title>Honda wins multiple awards at the 2025 MCN Awards</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/honda-wins-multiple-awards-at-the-2025-mcn-awards</link>
<description>Honda UK Motorcycles is delighted to have won 4 awards at the coveted 2025 MCN Awards. Continuing from previous successes in recent years, this latest triumph also includes the highly sought-after, Manufacturer of the Year award. Other awards include two for the CB1000 Hornet SP, Best Naked and Overall Bike of the Year and the GB350S taking the award for the Best A2 Bike.

Commenting on the Manufacturer of the Year award, MCN said:

Honda Motorcycles have scooped the 2025 MCN Manufacturer of the Year Award after a hugely successful twelve months for the brand.

Not only has Honda delivered a knockout winner in the naked segment in the form of the Hornet SP, a machine with superbike DNA and a chassis so agile it redefined what riders expect from a big naked but also, through a keen value-led approach, have pushed premium performance back into mass-market reach.

They have done the same at the other end of the market too, with the utterly charming GB350S a bike that appeals to everyone from new A2 licence holders to TT legends, both young and old. And theyve stuck a price tag on it thats too tempting to ignore. In fact, Hondas pricing across the range is clever, competitive, and clearly focused on stimulating buyers which is exactly whats needed right now.

Honda have also celebrated a staggering milestone this year the production of their 500 millionth motorcycle. The momentum spilled into racing too, with a return to the TT winners enclosure for the first time in a decade, while also ripping up the manual in MotoGP to reinvigorate their fortunes against the dominance of Ducati.

Honda have lofty goals and ambitions, covering everything from rider safety to environmental responsibility, as well as regaining their place on top of world championship podiums and weve no doubt they can achieve them.

Honda is a company that puts the needs and desires of motorcyclists first, something thats patently evident from their comprehensive and thoughtful range of machines and above all else, this makes them worthy winners of this years MCN Manufacturer of the Year award.

The new CB1000 Hornet SP took two honours Best Naked and Overall Bike of the Year. The 23YM CB750 brought the evocative Hornet name back to Europe, and generated instant popularity: its combination of taut streetfighter silhouette, exhilarating power and razor-sharp agility made it Europes best-selling naked bike in 2023.

For 25YM, the Hornet family grew and Hondas naked flagship delivers a potent cocktail of intense acceleration and ultra-sharp handling to deliver maximum riding fun from busy city street to twisting mountain road. The performance of the CB1000 Hornet SP is delivered through the formidable CBR1000RR Fireblade-based engine, producing peak power of 115.6kW at 11,000rpm and 107Nm at 9,000rpm and high-end chassis and drivetrain components such as an adjustable hlins TTX36 rear shock, standard fit quickshifter, and Brembo Stylema brakes elevate the CB1000 Hornet SP to the next level.

The bikes styling is pure and aggressive and the minimalistic look hides premium technology in the form of multiple riding modes with different combinations of Power, Engine Braking and Honda Selectable Torque Control, an optically bonded five-inch full colour TFT screen, Honda RoadSync connectivity, and Hondas Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) as standard.

Reflecting on the two awards, MCN said:

Hondas CB1000 Hornet SP has put premium performance back within the reach of the masses, which is one of the reasons why MCNs judges have awarded it Best Naked of 2025.

Top-spec components and a stunning chassis, combined with a blistering superbike-derived engine make it a phenomenal motorcycle in its own right. Yet, more than this; what the Hornet SP has done is completely shake up the naked class due to its incredible value for money.

In that respect, Hondas CB1000 Hornet SP is a game-changer of a motorcycle, and its for that reason, as well as its fun factor and performance, why MCN is proud to also crown it as our Overall Bike of the Year 2025.

Last but not least, the new GB350S continued Hondas recent success in this Best A2 Bike category with the CB500X taking the award on multiple occasions in recent years. The GB350S is an accessible A2-friendly motorcycle with a retro charm that pays homage to Hondas illustrious history. Powered by an evocative air-cooled single-cylinder engine, it has been designed for pure riding pleasure for any experience level, with a combination of timeless looks, affordable price point and modern technology such as 41mm front forks, 310mm front disc brake, slipper clutch, LED lights and Honda Selectable Torque Control.

On winning this award, MCN commented:

Handsome styling, outstanding quality and a double-take-inducing price, Hondas GB350S has turned the heads of riders young and old, as well as those of MCNs judging panel whove awarded it this years Best A2 Bike.

A simple, feel-good, air-cooled single that somehow makes 21bhp feel like much, much more, it has enough oomph to zip you down a B-road with a smile on your face, while still being able to keep up with traffic, even on motorways.

MCNs judging panel was unanimous in their praise for the GB350Ss charm and build quality, highlighting how its lavished with the kind of attention to detail youd usually only find on bigger and more expensive retros. Its exactly what an easy-going, lightweight bike should be a pure joy machine with broad appeal.

Reflecting on the awards, Andy Mineyko, Head of Motorcycles at Honda UK said, Motor Cycle News is a leading authority on motorcycles, so we are all absolutely delighted to win these awards. Each and every recognition that we, or our model line-up receives, is a proud moment. For Honda to win the Manufacturer of the Year award, the first time in over ten years is fantastic and is a reflection of the brand and the excellent dealer network that helps deliver the experience and bikes to our customers.

They recognise not only the great work and efforts that starts in Japan and ends up on the UK roads but also reflect our work and commitment outside of building great bikes. We are constantly looking to support the industry across every aspect, from new riders to new models, from racing to groundbreaking technology, all with the customer and network at the front of mind.

To also win pure model related awards for the GB350S and particularly the Bike of the Year for the CB1000 Hornet SP is also hugely satisfying. And to see the sales figures for both bikes this year can only mean many happy customers, which of course, is incredibly important to us, particularly in such competitive sectors!

    <title>Edgy redesign for the 2025 Honda X-ADV!</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/edgy-redesign-for-the-2025-honda-x-adv%21</link>
<description>For 25YM the X-ADV receives updates to style, tech and all-round usability with three all-new paint options . It also incorporates the use of recycled materials to an extent not seen on any previous Honda model, continuing its charge as an innovative two-wheeled pathfinder.

2. Model Overview

Long standing apart from the crowd, the X-ADV has always cut a unique shape. For the 25YM refresh, the bodywork has been redesigned to introduce an even sharper, more aggressive look with a premium frontal light signature. Redesigned dual LED headlights feature highly visible Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which, in a worlds first for motorcycles, also subtly integrate the bikes indicators. For easier ground reach the seat has been carefully re-shaped; thicker urethane improves comfort. The under-seat storage has a 22L volume and houses a USB-C charging point; theres also a useful glovebox.

A new five-inch full colour TFT screen features newly designed images, colourways and menu structures. It has been designed for easy readability on bright days and features Honda RoadSync connectivity. Managed by a new, easy-to-use four-way lefthand backlit toggle switch, the rider can enjoy on-screen, turn-by-turn navigation in addition to other smartphone features. Cruise control is a useful 25YM addition for longer highway journeys and works exceptionally well with the DCT to provide a high-quality, less tiring ride when touring.

As before, the parallel twin-cylinder engine blends strong low-to mid-range performance with easy manners and excellent fuel efficiency. Peak power is set at 43.1kW with an impressive 69Nm of torque. Throttle By Wire (TBW) serves up four default rider modes with pre-set combinations of settings for Power, Engine Braking and Honda Selectable Torque Control plus a customisable USER option. The 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) features newly refined inputs for its Gravel and Rain settings. The Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) has automatic shifting schedules that integrate with the riding modes, as well as the option to select the favourite shift pattern in the USER set-up; it has also been updated for smoother low-speed response.

A tough chassis is comprised of a tubular steel frame, 41mm USD front forks, rear monoshock (with Pro-Link) and aluminium swingarm. A 17-inch front wheel is matched to a 15-inch rear with dual, radial-mount four-piston calipers braking up front.

The 25YM X-ADV will be available in the following colour options:

**NEW**Graphite Black
**NEW**Pearl Glare White
**NEW**Matte Deep Mud Gray

3. Key Features

Styling &amp; Equipment

Sharp, slim and aggressive styling update defined by new twin-LED projector headlights with DRLs and subtly integrated indicators
New full-colour five-inch TFT screen, with backlit switchgear and Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity
Large 22L storage space houses an under-seat USB-C socket, with more space available from the glovebox

The X-ADVs head-turning styling conceived and developed by Hondas R&amp;D team in Italy evolved in 21YM to become slimmer and sharper, the silhouette tight and deliberately upright, each body-panel honed with strong intent.

It moves on again for 25YM with an even more razor-edged look up front thanks to the new rugged-looking fairings with multiple sharp angles and defined creases that create an almost origami-like appearance. And, leading from the front, penetrating new dual LED projector headlights now feature Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) subtly integrating the indicators; Hondas hidden eye technique blacks out the area around projector lenses making the DRLs stand out. All other lighting is LED. In addition, Honda has adopted a sustainable Durabio and other recycled plastics and rubber materials used in the bodywork.

Honda has set &quot;efficient use of resources&quot; as part of its environmental targets and aims to achieve &quot;100% sustainable material usage&quot; by 2050. The 25YM X-ADV is the first Honda motorcycle model to actively use sustainable materials such as recycled plastics and biomass plastics that have a low environmental impact.

Recycled materials from Honda automobile bumpers are used for the luggage box and seat bottom for the first time
Pre-consumed recycled polypropylene material* is used for several covers and panels throughout the bike
The biomass plastic &quot;DURABIOis used on the side skirt covers and windscreen
This world&#039;s first*use of biomass plastic DURABIOin motorcycle bodywork has the added benefit of avoiding the CO2 emissions associated with the conventional painting process

Ergonomically, the 820mm seat height (newly re-shaped for easy ground reach) and wide handlebar set at 940mm ensure a high eye point for riders for outstanding visibility. The seat base now features a 10% increase in the amount of urethane used to increase ride comfort, whilst a change in the layout of the seat damper has also improved the quality of the opening and closing motion of the unit.

For commuting or touring, the X-ADVs link-type screen easily adjusts without tools through five positions from to maximise or minimise airflow. Redesigned, with a revised internal structure and controls, the number of adjustment steps has been reduced and the process streamlined. The previous model required five steps of operation with both hands, but this new model allows height adjustment with three steps of operation with one hand, further improving operability. The total height difference is 139mm, with an 11 rake between the highest and lowest points.

Premium technology, in the form of a new, five-inch full colour TFT screen, uses optical bonding to improve visibility in bright sunlight. By sealing the gap between the cover glass and TFT screen with resin, glare is reduced, and visibility improved. The display itself is customisable between Bar, Circle and Simple display patterns and offers smartphone connectivity via the Honda RoadSync app.

Honda RoadSync allows straightforward, on-screen turn-by-turn navigation as well as the option (via a Bluetooth helmet headset) for the rider to make calls, listen to music or receive voice feedback of weather conditions. All an owner needs to do is download the free Honda RoadSync app from either the Play Store or the App Store, connect to the X-ADV, and go.

Tough plastic hand guards deflect wind and rain, while adding protection for hands and levers from stones when off-road. A shot-peened aluminium bash plate provides additional protection to the underside.

The new cruise control integrates with the DCT smoothly and is very easy to use; activation is from the right switchgear, with plus, minus and resume set from the left. The under-seat 22L luggage space can accommodate a full-face helmet and is lit with an integral LED, placed to deliver uniform illumination without glare. For added convenience, a USB-C charging socket is located at the rear of the compartment. A centre stand with tilt sensor is fitted as standard and allows the X-ADV to be parked on an incline without fear of toppling.

For added convenience the X-ADV uses a Smart Key, which lives in the riders pocket and does away with the need to use a key for ignition, fuel cap and seat. With the Smart Key present, one push of the knob-type main switch powers the bike up and makes it possible to turn, giving the rider control of the ignition/steering lock and, via two rocker switches, the fuel cap and seat. It also has an answer back function, which makes the indicators flash for easy identification from a distance, and locks and unlocks the optional Smart Top Box. A clutch mechanism in the main switch stops the handlebars unlocking by force for added security.

The rear indicators also have a self-cancelling Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function. If negative acceleration of 6.0m/s2is detected at a minimum speed of 53km/h with either brake working, the hazard lights flash to warn other road users a hard stop is in process. At the same speed the threshold is reduced if ABS is activated to a negative acceleration of over 2.5m/s2.

The indicators also auto-cancel. Rather than using a simple timer, the system compares front and rear wheel speed difference and calculates when to cancel the indication relative to the situation.

Engine

Throttle By Wire control; peak power figure of43.1kW with 69Nm torque
Economic engine is capable of achieving 3.6l/100km fuel efficiency
Restricted 35kW A2 compliant specification also available

The design of the X-ADVs liquid-cooled, SOHC eight-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine ensures punchy performance in the low-to-mid range. Mechanically unchanged for 25YM, its relatively long-stroke architecture and specially shaped combustion chambers combine with the high-inertial mass crankshaft to produce large amounts of effortless torque from very low rpm. A forward cant brings the centre of gravity down for optimum stability.

Peak power is set at 43.1kW @ 6,750rpm, with maximum torque of 69Nm @ 4,750rpm. From 30 km/h the X-ADV will cover 20m in 1.7s, 50m in 3.2s, while at 60km/h the torquey engine is turning at just 2,500rpm.

For A2 licence holders a 35kW version is available, which can be easily converted to the full power version by a Honda dealer at the appropriate time. Equally, it is possible to restrict the full power version to 35kW by a Honda dealer remapping the ECU.

Twin balancers counteract vibration from higher rpm inertia without affecting the distinct throb delivered by the engines irregular firing order and 270 phased crankshaft. Bore and stroke is set at 77 x 80mm. Where possible components are made to do more than one job: the camshaft drives the water pump, while one of the balancer shafts drives the oil pump. By keeping the number of parts to a minimum in this way, the engine is kept light, efficient and reliable.

This means that the X-ADV engine sips fuel with a measured consumption of 3.6L/100km (WMTC mode) providing a potential range of over 360km from the 13.2-litre fuel tank. A revised catalyser and OBD2-2 sensor clean ensures emissions compliance.

Engine Electronics

Throttle By Wire delivers four default riding modes
USER customisation offers bespoke setup
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) features three levels of intervention and has been updated for smoother control

With TBW managing engine performance and character there are four modes for the rider to choose from, covering all riding conditions. There are four levels of Mode selection is managed by the left-hand switchgear.

STANDARDdelivers a balanced middle point between engine power delivery (P), engine braking (EB), DCT shift response and HSTC intervention, with the strongest level of ABS intervention.
SPORTgives more aggressive P delivery and strong EB, with low HSTC intervention, high ABS and sporty DCT performance.
RAINtransmits low P delivery and EB, high HSTC and ABS input with relaxed DCT schedule.
GRAVELemploys high P and EB with low HSTC, ABS and specific gravel DCT setting.
USERoffers two custom options of low/medium/high between engine power delivery and engine braking and low/medium/high/off for HSTC. There are also five levels of DCT shift pattern to use.

HSTC offers refined control as it uses TBW to manage torque delivered to the rear wheel, with three levels of input. Levels 1 and 3 have been optimised for 25YM to deliver smoother management.

Level 1allows the minimum intervention for some rear wheel spin on gravel or dirt for instance, and its level of intervention is reduced from the previous design.
Level 2is the default setting and provides confidence-inspiring traction for general riding conditions.
Level 3provides maximum control for slippery roads.

HSTC can also be switched OFF.

Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

Improved starting/slow-speed response uses same clutch oil pressure estimation update as 24YM Africa Twin
Differing shifting schedules link with riding modes
USER mode allows choice of 5 settings, from smooth to aggressive

Hondas DCT technology is now in its 17th year of production, and over 230,000 units of DCT-equipped Honda two-wheelers have been sold in Europe since 2010. It delivers consistent, seamless gear changes up or down and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rdand 5th, the other for 2nd, 4thand 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

The system delivers consistent, seamless gear changes and very quickly becomes second nature in use. Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages.

For the 25YM X-ADV update smoother starting from standstill and control at low speed under 10km/h for U-turns were the targets. This requires a quick yet gentle driving force at small throttle openings.

Surpassing the operating parameters of the previous generation DCT the new technology applied now estimates the oil pressure of the clutch piston chamber and completely reviews the way feedback gain is applied rather than just relying on an oil pressure sensor upstream of the clutch piston resulting in improved, more delicate clutch response. Alongside the way TBW now opens from closed, DCT also features a dedicated setting for extremely low speed running.

Consistent, fast and seamless gear changes are always on offer. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is negligible, making the change feel direct as well as smooth. Extra benefits include durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear) impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and crucially the ability to concentrate more on riding lines, braking and acceleration points.

The DCT system offers two distinct riding approaches Automatic Transmission (AT), with pre-programmed shift patterns which constantly read vehicle speed, gear selected and engine rpm to decide when a shift should occur, and Manual Transmission (MT), for gear changes using the paddle-shift style triggers on the left handlebar.

Through TBW control there are five Automatic shifting schedules available. Level 1 is the most relaxed, with upshifts and downshifts operating at relatively lower rpm; it is linked with the RAIN riding mode. Level 4, on the other extreme, shifts up at higher rpm and also downshifts earlier for more engine braking effect; it is linked with the SPORT mode. Level 2 is linked with STANDARD riding mode, with Level 3 situated between STANDARD and SPORT.

For the GRAVEL riding mode the X-ADV uses a relatively sporty shifting pattern; this has the added functionality of a decreased level of slip as the clutches operate from a fully open or closed throttle to give the rider more direct feel for traction at the rear wheel, and the ability to perform controlled sliding off road.

The USER mode functionality allows the rider to select any of the DCT shift patterns with the preferred permutations of the other parameters Power delivery, Engine Braking, ABS and HSTC.

Chassis

Lightweight tubularsteel diamond frame
41mm cartridge-style USD fork and Pro-Link swingarm
Radial mount four-piston front brake calipers, 296mm discs and ABS
120/70 R17 and 160/60 R15 front and rear tyres

The X-ADVs tubular steel diamond frame is light, strong and makes ample space for the under-seat compartment. Rake and trail are set at 27/104mm with a wheelbase of 1590mm. A 39 steering angle (and turning radius of 2.8m) makes the X-ADV highly manoeuvrable in tight traffic. Long travel suspension 153.5mm up front and 150mm from the rear is matched to 165mm of ground clearance to allow the X-ADV to conquer any surface. Overall wet weight is 237kg.

For handling rough terrain, the 41mm cartridge-type USD fork adjusts for spring preload and rebound damping. The spring preload adjustable rear shock is a single tube split pressure design and operates the aluminium swingarm constructed from a machined-hollow cross member and U-shaped (in cross section) arms through Pro-Link.

The 17-inch front wheel and 15-inch rear use stainless steel rust-resistant spokes and contribute to the X-ADVs ability to comfortably soak up rough terrain. Block-pattern tyres add to the ride quality and L-shape valve stems make checking air pressure easy. Tyres are sized 120/70 R17 and 160/60 R15 front and rear.

Dual radial-mount opposed four-piston calipers bite 296mm discs and work through ABS.

    <title>Updated NT1100 for 2025</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/updated-nt1100-for-2025</link>
<description>Introduced for 2022 model year, the NT1100 offers a timeless combination of desirable performance, engaging handling and long-range comfort, with a raft of the latest technologies and a sleek take on classical tourer style. This combination has proved immensely popular across Europe, gaining the NT1100 the number one spot in the touring category in 2023.

For 25YM, the NT1100s styling has been updated and refined to deliver both a sharper silhouette and efficient aerodynamic performance around a riding position that remains tailored for touring. The aesthetic changes are crowned by dual headlights that feature unique new Daytime Running Lights complete with subtly integrated indicators for a supremely sophisticated frontal signature - and improved visibility.

Redesigned and reprofiled fairings sharpen the silhouette for 25YM
New high-output Daytime Running Lights with integrated indicators give a unique frontal signature
Strong boost to mid-range power and torque increases all-round performance
Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa-EERA) suspension option elevates ride quality to next level
Revised DCT offers smoother gear changes at all speeds
Practicality and comfort upgrades from revised seat, panniers, windscreen and wind deflectors

All-round performance receives a substantial boost thanks to changes to the 1,084cc parallel twin cylinder engine. The new tuning via intake, combustion and exhaust revisions produces 7% more low- and mid-range torque, while keeping peak power. The engines efficiency allows a 400km range from the 20L fuel tank.

True to its New Touring brief, both comfort and practicality are boosted for 2025. Reprofiled upper and lower wind deflectors work in unison for even better weather protection; a revised, longer front mudguard contributes to the same cause. The adjustable screen can now be operated one-handed by the rider from a seated position, whilst the larger, redesigned seat offers increased support comfort for the long haul. The standard-fit panniers have also been redesigned, increasing in volume to hold a full-face helmet each.

Operation of the electronic rider aids is now improved by the inclusion of a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for more precise control not only of the three-level Honda Selectable Torque Control but also three-level Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS, and Rear Lift Control. Its also involved in riding mode management, of which there are three defaults: Urban, Rain, and Tour. Individual customisation of all parameters is also possible in User mode.

Further elevation of the touring experience is provided by the new option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa-EERA) suspension. Offered alongside the standard Showa suspension version, the advanced Showa-EERA offers real-time optimisation of damping in all riding conditions, as well as the ability to adjust rear spring preload on the move.

A final touch for improved comfort comes in the shape of revisions to Hondas proven six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), which has been redeveloped to improve low-speed feel and is now linked to the IMU for intuitive gear shifting while cornering.

The full range of equipment is as impressive as ever: a full colour 6.5-inch TFT touch screen provides customisable displays and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity; cruise control, upgraded heated grips, ACC and USB charging sockets, self-cancelling indicators, Emergency Stop Signals (ESS) and a centre stand are all also standard fit.

The 25YM NT1100 and NT1100 Electronic Suspension will be available in the following three new colour options:

Mat Warm Ash Metallic
Gunmetal Black Metallic
Pearl Hawkseye Blue

<title>Getting Value for Money from Your Motorcycle Insurance</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/getting-value-for-money-from-your-motorcycle-insurance</link>
<description>So, you&#039;ve set your heart on that dream bike, and it&#039;s neither small, old, nor cheap. The good news? You dont have to settle for less. There are savvy ways to enjoy the thrill of your preferred ride without the financial sting. Let&#039;s explore how you can truly have your cake and eat it too when it comes to motorcycle insurance with five helpful tips on getting value for your money on your motorcycle insurance.

1. Pay Insurance Annually

Switching to an annual payment for your motorcycle insurance instead of monthly instalments can be a game-changer. Why? Because this eliminates interest or finance arrangement fees, potentially saving you between 10-15%. It&#039;s straightforwardpay once, save more.

2. Reduce Your Premium with Rider Training

Taking an advanced riding course not only sharpens your skills but may also lower your insurance premiums. Not all insurers offer discounts for additional qualifications, so it&#039;s crucial to assess whether the cost of a course like the government&#039;s Enhanced Rider Schemewhich includes a bespoke training plan and a DVSA Certificate of Competenceoutweighs the potential insurance savings. However, completing such a program could reduce your premiums by up to 10%.

At Wheels Motorcycles, we offer affordable, professional motorcycle rider training with first-class, DVSA-qualified instructors, including tuition that would grant you the certification for the Enhanced Rider Scheme. Contact us today if youre interested in partaking. If youre already a great rider, it should be a simple, painless process that cuts costs.

3. Get the Right Motorbike Cover Type

Insurance isn&#039;t one-size-fits-all. If you own an older bike or one that isnt particularly high-value, you might consider opting for third-party, fire and theft cover instead of a fully comprehensive policy. Surprisingly, less extensive cover doesnt always mean cheaper, so do your homework. Compare what each policy covers and excludes to ensure you arent paying for unnecessary extras like legal assistance or a courtesy bike if you dont need them.

4. Increase Your Voluntary Excess

Choosing to pay a higher voluntary excess can significantly reduce your insurance premiums. This means you agree to pay more towards any claim you make. Its essential to ensure this amount is affordable for you; remember, this is on top of the compulsory excess. This tweak in your policy could save you up to 10% on your premiums.

5. Short-Term Cover

If you only ride during certain times of the year, consider short-term insurance or even cancelling your insurance mid-term. This approach requires obtaining a statutory off-road notification (SORN) for the periods when your bike isn&#039;t in use, thereby avoiding the need for insurance and road tax. It may sound cumbersome, but the financial benefits are significant, potentially halving your insurance costs annually. Keep in mind, however, that you won&#039;t accrue a no-claims bonus for that year. If you can get it right, youll potentially save over 50% on your premiums for the year.

Motorcycle insurance doesn&#039;t have to break the bank or restrict your choices. By being proactive and making informed decisions about how and when you pay, the type of cover you choose, enhancing your riding skills, and managing your insurance terms, you can enjoy substantial savings. This way, you can invest more in what truly matters: the joy of riding.

<title>How to Get Your Motorcycle Summer-Ready</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/how-to-get-your-motorcycle-summer-ready</link>
<description>Summer is the ultimate time of year for your motorcycle to come alive. The season of sun-drenched days that are perfect for the exhilaration of motorcycle riding, and after months of your bike sitting dormant, it&#039;s time to shake off the dust and prepare for the open road. But before you rev up your engine and embrace the windy freedom of the ride, a bit of preparation is crucial to ensure your motorbike is in tip-top condition. Lets get your two-wheeled companion summer-ready with a few essential summer motorcycle prep steps.

Preparing Your Motorcycle After Months of Inactivity

Even the sleekest motorbikes can succumb to the effects of a long winter break. To avoid any unwelcome surprises on your first journey back, start by giving your bike a thorough wash. Its likely to be coated in a layer of grime that has accumulated over the inactive months. As you clean, inspect for any signs of corrosion - dampness and humidity can do serious damage to plain steel brackets and clips.

Next, tighten any nuts and bolts that may have loosened during the winter. Changing the oil and replacing the filter is essential too, as old oil can turn acidic and damage the engine&#039;s internal surfaces and bearings if left unchecked. Dont forget to check the brake fluid; it absorbs moisture over time, which can degrade your braking performance and corrode internal components.

Chain maintenance should never be overlooked. Ensure your drivetrain is free from corrosion and wear by cleaning and lubricating the chain thoroughly, and adjusting the slack as needed. For those who prefer a professional touch, consider scheduling a summer motorcycle servicing to cover all the technical aspects.

Finding the Best Riding Routes

When it comes to finding the best summer routes, Google Maps simply wont suffice. Tap into the knowledge of fellow riders, or check out specialist magazines like Ride Routes or apps such as Rever that offer curated trip planning. Or, why not embrace the spirit of adventure? Venture out, get lost, explore new horizonsjust make sure your phone is charged enough to guide you back home!

Getting the Right Gear

Navigating the balance between protection and comfort in the summer can seem like an oxymoron, but it&#039;s entirely possible with the right gear. Start with a helmet; consider a flip-front model for easier access to fresh air during stops. When it comes to jackets, a mesh option will provide the necessary protection while allowing air to circulate and keep you cool. For those who prefer leather, choose a jacket with perforations in the main panels to avoid overheating.

Underneath your jacket, swap out the cotton tee for a base layer made of polyester or another breathable material to prevent stickiness and overheating. Lower body protection is equally important; look for riding jeans with direct body venting and removable linings for adjustable comfort.

Don&#039;t overlook your hands. Invest in dedicated summer gloves that are breathable yet durable, often made from leather with a racing style to provide both comfort and protection.

Enjoy Summer with a New Bike From Wheels Motorcycles

    <title>Preview of the New 2024 Honda CBR600RR</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/preview-of-the-new-2024-honda-cbr600rr</link>
<description>After seven long years, it&#039;s back. After an anxious build-up, the iconic Honda CBR600RR is making a spectacular return to the European market, rekindling the passion for pure road-going sports bikes. This comeback not only marks a significant moment for Honda but also signals the resurgence of the middleweight sports category, which has seen a revival in recent years.

A Legacy Reborn

The CBR600RR comes decorated with an illustrious racing heritage, dominating the FIM World Super Sports championship with victories in multiple years, including an unmatched streak from 2003 to 2008, and further triumphs in 2010, 2012 and 2014. However, the shift in motorcycle enthusiast preferences towards naked and adventure models saw this model disappear from Hondas European lineup in 2017. Now, as trends have evolved and the demand for high-performance supersport machinery has appeared again, the 600RR is primed for its grand return, and hopefully for good.

Tech-Savvy and Track-Ready

The 2024 Honda CBR600RR comes packed with cutting-edge features inspired by MotoGP, including a formidable 599cc inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a potent 89kW of power at 14,250rpm. Riders will appreciate the inclusion of an assist/slipper clutch and a standard-fit quickshifter, giving them that track-day feel.

Electronics have been a particular focus for Honda, with the CBR600RR incorporating an advanced package that includes Throttle By Wire control for smooth throttle response, 9-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Wheelie Control, and Rear Lift Control. The bike also offers three default riding modes - Fast Riding, Fun Riding, and Comfortable Riding - alongside two customisable user modes, allowing riders to tailor engine power, engine braking, HSTC, and Wheelie Control to their preferences.

Hondas Performance Engineering as Precise as Ever

The chassis of the new CBR600RR is a 360-degree upgrade. Honda has implemented a twin-spar aluminium frame, an aluminium swingarm, 41mm Showa Big Piston USD front forks, and a Unit Pro-Link Showa rear shock. Its braking power is formidable, with four-piston radial-mount front callipers, complemented by a Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) for extra stability across varying speeds.

Styling and aerodynamics have not been overlooked either, with the new model boasting the lowest Coefficient of Drag in its class at 0.555 and sculpted winglets to improve stability and turning ability.

Add-On Packs for Customisation

Those looking to personalise their CBR600RR can choose between the Racing Pack, which emphasises the bike&#039;s sportiness and racing pedigree, and the Comfort Pack, designed to enhance the supersport experience with practical accessories like a rear seat bag, heated grips, and a USB-C charging socket. Whats more, this bike is available in two colour options: Matt Ballistic Black Metallic, and Grand Prix Red HRC TriColour, Hondas signature colourway. The choice is all yours.

Pre-Order the New CBR600RR Today

The anticipation for the 2024 Honda CBR600RR is undeniable, and the opportunity to own this reborn legend is here with Wheels Motorcycles. Why order with Wheels Motorcycles? Were the UKs number one destination for brand new and used motorcycles to fuel your passion for two wheels, and we have a high-quality service and MOT centre built-in to fully service and diagnose your motorcycle should you need it. <title>Honda breaks more new ground with innovative Honda E-Clutch technology</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/honda-breaks-more-new-ground-with-innovative-honda-e-clutch-technology</link>
<description>Want to step it up? Ride Honda E-Clutch. This is brand-new, unique to Honda technology that means you dont need to use the clutch lever starting, stopping or changing gears up or down. Its smooth and instant control better than pro-level and makes carving a set of twisting corners even more fun, and navigating the city stress free. And dont worry. If you need to use the clutch manually at any time, you can. The choice is yours.

How Honda E-Clutch Works:

The Honda E-Clutch opens up a whole new aspect of the riding experience for every type of rider from beginner to seasoned expert. It takes elements of the technology and performance of quickshifters, manually-operated clutches and Honda&#039;s unique Dual Clutch Transmission technology to create a unique blend of these well-proven approaches. During the gear change, it uses a harmonised combination of &#039;half-clutch&#039; operation, fuel injection cut and ignition control to eliminate &#039;shift shock&#039; for an ultra-smooth ride. The clutch control itself is managed through an actuator unit - similar to those used in Honda&#039;s DCT gearboxes - housed inside the right hand engine cover. All you have to do is use the throttle and change gears via the shift pedal. And if you&#039;d like to use the clutch manually at any point, simply grab the lever and use as normal. After a few second the E-clutch technology is back on. Alternatively, there&#039;s the option to turn off the E-Clutch completely via the TFT screen for an induvidual ride.

Expert Level Performance Shifting:

Honda E-Clutch offers a real performance advantage when riding on twisting roads. It provides huge, exciting fun, at anystage of a riding career. Gear changes using just the shift pedal are effortless and controlled- so you can concentrate on the next corner, and the one after that. This means seamless, instant shifting, with no momentary engine deceleration or shift shock. The weight of the system is just 2kg, to keep the overall kerb weight low and maintain agility. It&#039;s an expert level experience, all the time.

The new CB650R and CBR650R are the first motorcycles to launch with Honda E-Clutch technology as an option.

&quot;Comfort, peace of mind and sportiness were the development pillars of the Honda E-clutch.&quot;

Junya Ono Project Leader

<title>What are the best motorcycles for commuting? Our top picks</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/what-are-the-best-motorcycles-for-commutingour-top-picks</link>
<description>Commuting on four wheels is rarely fun. Unless your route to work consists solely of deserted B-roads, taking the car is often a stressful and irritating experience. Congestion is all too commonplace on Britains crowded roads, and in a car youve got no choice but to sit and wait, wait and wait some more. Frustrating.

Switch to two wheels and the commute starts to look a whole lot more appealing. Not only does a bike make any trip more of an event by default, it allows you to cut through the worst of the traffic with ease, saving you time and keeping your blood pressure in check.

Even the most humdrum of motorcycles can make the commute to work an enjoyable experience. Granted, youll be more exposed to the elements, but the time youll save and the fun youll have will make it all worthwhile.

Plus, advancements in riding gear over the past few decades mean that using a motorcycle through winter is now a much more enjoyable experience. There are plenty of options out there with built-in thermal insulation, keeping you warm when the temperature outside plummets - and brands like Alpinestars even produce heated motorcycle clothing!

Theres a strong financial case to be made too. Some of the bikes we sell can crack upwards of 100 mpg, a feat that very few cars would be able to get close to. And thats before you take into account the much lower purchase price of a motorcycle.

Commuting on a bike is a sound idea, then. But which one should you choose - and what should you look out for when buying? Read on to find out.

What to look for when choosing a commuter motorbike

If youre buying a motorcycle with the intention of commuting on it, there are a handful of key considerations to bear in mind.

Comfort
Reliability
Fuel efficiency
Riding enjoyment

A good commuter bike is one that offers a reasonable compromise between each of the four factors listed above. Its got to be comfortable, but you dont want it to be too heavy, cumbersome or boring to ride. Its got to be reliable in all weathers and, ideally, it should be light on fuel to keep more money in your pocket.

So, with all that in mind, which bikes should be on your shopping list? Here are a few of our top picks

The best commuter motorcycles for short commutes

If you live relatively close to work and your route is mostly made up of low-speed roads through residential areas, a scooter may be the best bet. When it comes to scooters, Suzuki has always been up there with the best of them - and its venerable Burgman 400 may well be the pick of the bunch.

Its torquey four-stroke engine delivers more than adequate performance and, despite its hefty 218 kg kerb weight, the Burgman is surprisingly manoeuvrable. Ride is probably this machines trump card, though: for a scooter, the Burgman is impressively composed. It manages upwards of 70 mpg, too.

Although the Burgman is a popular choice, there are a whole host of other options out there from brands like Piaggio and Vespa. The Vespa Primavera 125 can achieve more than 120 mpg, for instance, making it one of the most fuel-efficient scooters out there.

The best commuter motorcycles for long-distance commutes

Adventure tourers make the perfect commuters, particularly if you drive into work from further afield. A good tourer will take everything in its stride: from bumpy country lanes to motorways and city streets, these versatile bikes are built to take it all on.

With plenty of straight line performance and sporty handling, modern tourers are a joy to ride - and theyre incredibly fuel efficient to boot. All of this makes them so much more than a commuter. Buy an adventure tourer and youll want to ride it at the weekend, too.

One of our favourites is the Kawasaki Versys 650. Designed to conquer the urban jungle in the words of Kawasaki, the Versys 650 is available with an adjustable windscreen, a colour TFT display and Bluetooth to make each and every journey that little bit more comfortable.

The Honda NC750X is another stellar choice. Dependable and impeccably well-built, the NC750X is designed to wear all kinds of different hats, from cross country commuter to weekend adventurer. If youre looking for one bike that can do it all - with comfort - its hard to argue against the NC750X. We particularly love its lightning-fast dual clutch transmission.

The best electric commuter motorcycles

Petrol power isnt your only option nowadays, particularly if you have a shorter commute. We stock a range of electric motorcycles and scooters here at Wheels, and many of them make ideal commuters.

The Zero range is proving particularly popular for this purpose, the S and DSR/X in particular receiving rave reviews from the motorcycle press. We reckon the DSR/X has to be one of the best electric commuter motorcycles out there, rolling the best bits of a sports bike and a tourer into one usable package. Its impressive torque figure of 229Nm makes commuting an effortless and enjoyable experience - and a 179-mile city range is more than enough to satisfy most peoples needs.

Find the bike or scooter of your dreams at Wheels

If youre in the market for a new or used commuter bike, youll be spoilt for choice here at Wheels Motorcycles, the UKs number one multi-brand dealership.

Located in Peterborough and Cradley Heath, our locations are packed with quality machinery from the likes of Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Zero and many more - and the vast majority of them come with an unbeatable lifetime guarantee. Check out our complete lineup of bikes online today or pay us a visit in store.

    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/the-supersport-jewel-returns</link>

Its engine also provided the power for Moto2 between 2010 and 2018.

The 600RR departed from Hondas European showrooms at the start of 2017 as the trend away from supersport machinery towards naked and adventure models accelerated. In the intervening years, the middleweight sports category has seen a revival, and the model was reintroduced overseas! Now the time is ripe for thepurestof all road-legal sports bikes to make its return to Europe. Loaded with cutting-edge MotoGP-inspired electronics and aerodynamics, the new 24YM CBR600RR is a rare, beautiful thing a free-revving four-cylinder motorcycling gem that exists in a class of one.

<title>Suzuki pulls off the cover off TWO new models, including a brand new GSX-R</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/suzuki-pulls-off-the-cover-off-two-new-models-including-a-brand-new-gsx-r</link>
<description>Suzukipulled the covers off two more new models for 2024, with the reveal of a new GSXS1000GX crossover and the return to a large capacity GSX-R in the form of theGSX-8R middleweight sportsbike earlier on this month at EICMA 2023.

GSX-S1000GX

Enteringnew territory withthe GSX-S1000GX, offering a new sports crossover machine with a comprehensive suite of electronics andan999cc inline four-cylinder (The same found in the GSX-S GT)deliveringan abundance of power and torque.

With a design and product concept of the ultimate sports crossover, the GSX-S1000GX is set to become the benchmark in the category, as Suzuki moves into the crossover sector of the market for the first time. It boasts Suzukis most sophisticated electronics package to date, with a number of new and innovative systems enabled by a six-axis Bosch IMU and electronic suspension from Showa. The GSX-S1000GX is the first Suzuki to adopt Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES). The GX gets 150mm front and rear suspension travel to create an upright riding position, broadening the riders field of view and providing all-day riding comfort. The longer suspension travel also helps the GX smooth out bumps when riding over uneven surfaces. There are four selectable modes of SAES: hard, medium, soft, and a customisable user setting which offers +/- three increments on the selected base setting of hard, medium, or soft.

Further helping smooth out those bumps and undulations is Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilisation (SRAS). In use for the first time on the new GX, it detects uneven road surfaces based on input from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, and, if required, triggers the Suzuki Floating Ride Control (SFRC) to help smooth out the ride. The rear suspensions spring preload settings are also electronically controlled. In addition, the preload setting for auto mode can be adjustedto match the riders needs more finely. SDMS- provides three riding modes: active, basic, comfort. Those three integrated riding modes control power output characteristics, as well as the level of traction control, which, on the GX, is integrated with Lift Limiter (anti-wheelie) and Roll Torque Control, and electronic suspension settings. Riders can opt to use the default settings of many of those systems or customise them to match their needs or preferences more closely.

Making its debut on the GX is Suzukis new Roll Torque Control. Based on data received from the IMU and wheel speed sensors, this new system calculates the bikes lean angle and speed to predetermine what level of power output and acceleration is optimal at that time, for example, when exciting a corner. It then reduces torque output before the motorcycle exceeds the amount of power the system deems necessary to clear the corner effectively. The result is an extra layer of pre-emptive protection that operates silently in the background, with its settings determined by the level of traction control selected. Completing the GXs comprehensive suite of electronics is a ride-by-wire throttle, bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control updated on the GX to allow the system to continue operating when the rider changes gear lean angle-sensitive ABS, Slope Dependent Control, which prevents rear wheel lift when braking downhill, easy start, and low RPM assist.

Monitoring all of the GSX-S1000GXs electronic systems is done via a 6.5-inch colour TFT screen, which also offers smartphone connectivity (Via the Suzuki MySPIN app)And features USB socket in the side of the instrument cluster makes for easy phone charging. Powering the new GSX-S1000GX is Suzukis creamy smooth, 999cc, inline four-cylinder, superbike-derived engine. Known for its abundance of lowdown and midrange power, it produces 152PS at 11,000rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 9,250rpm. That engine is housed in a twin spar, aluminium frame mated to a race-proven aluminium swingarm from the GSX-R range and a lightweight subframe. All of that is wrapped in new, aggressive bodywork, with full LED lighting front and rear. Hand guards and a spacious luggage rack add extra practicality. Luggage capacity can be increased with genuine accessory 36-litre panniers.

With an OTR price of 14,499, we&#039;re expecting the very first customer orders to arriveby Christmas.

GSX-8R

Immediately highlighting the R element of the new GSX-8R is its full fairing, wind tunnel-tested to increase aerodynamic performance and provide weather protection for the rider. Bold 8R logos adorn the side panels, while fairing-mounted mirrors also aid in reducing drag. Perched in the middle of the angular face is the recognisably GSX series stacked LED headlight, topped by an LED position light. The rear combination light is also full LED, as are the indicators.

At the heart of the new GSX-8R is the 776cc parallel twin engine which it shares with the GSX-8S with its long stroke and 270 crankshaft design providing an abundance of low-down torque, usability, and flexibility, while a free-revving nature comes from a DOHC and four valves per cylinder. Peak torque is 78 Nm, delivered at 6800rpm, with peak power of 82.9PS coming at 8500rpm. The 270 crankshaft also provides a power delivery, character, and rumble reminiscent of Suzukis much-lauded V-twin ranges, while a patented cross balancer design ensures a smoothness due to alightweight engine design. The 8R returns to itssporty riding position, placing more of the riders weight over the front wheel but supported byShowasuspension, with SFF-BP* (Separate Function Fork Big Piston) inverted forks and monoshock in the rear. Mounted radially to the forks are Nissin four-piston calipers.

The GSX-8Rwill also featurebidirectional quickshifter as standard, three selectable engine power modes, and three selectable traction control settings, plus the ability to disengage the system entirely.with the information displayed clearly on a colour 5 TFT screen and available in three colour options will be available when the GSX-8R arrives in dealerships in early February with the price set to launch at 8,899.

    <title>Honda CB650R Review</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/honda-cb650r-review</link>
<description>The Honda CB650R has been a part of the Japanese automakers lineup for a decade, and its role has transformed from flagship 650CC to the last of its kind. With the puff piece info, Honda is pitching this new edition of the roadster as a distilled bike that gives you a minimal experience in which less is more. In a world with so many gadgets and tech to dazzle you, its a refreshing change.

This model also marks possibly the last of a dying breed of bikes powered by a straight-four engine, which is something Honda introduced to a mainstream level in 1969. In the new era of emission-conscious motoring, the industry seems to be moving away from this incredible engine construction. The Honda CB650R presents something of a last hurrah.

Design

Sporting a neo-sports cafe aesthetic, the Honda CB650R strikes a balance between modernity and retro charm. The single full-LED headlight, accentuated with a black bezel, exudes a sharp character, and gold-painted pistons and bodywork flairs lend an air of luxury that doesnt appear gauche. With the matte paintwork, it instead underscores the bikes understated elegance.

Performance

Powered by a 650CC straight-four engine, the Honda CB650R might not leave you breathless with its acceleration, but it promises an exhilarating experience once it hits its stride. The roar of the 1200RPM engine on open roads is nothing short of electrifying, backed by a sharp throttle response devoid of lag or snatch. Weighing in at 202kg, it feels solid without being cumbersome. The radial brakes are efficient, and while the bike boasts basic traction control, it&#039;s a nod to the times when biking was about the raw connection between the rider and the road. The straight-four engine may be the last in its lineage, but theres nothing like the power of it at your fingertips and the subsequent feeling of maturity.

Comfort

The CB650R is agile and slots in seamlessly, though larger riders might find it a tad small. The footpegs are placed comfortably, not too high. The seat contours perfectly, adjusting to the rider&#039;s weight and offering a plush experience. The ride leans more towards sporty with good manoeuvrability in corners. Its reminiscent of the Honda CB1000, which is certainly good company to be in.

Practicality

Even the practical amenities tow the line between modern with a classic attitude. The LCD speedometer screen, combined with the phone and dashcam dock, might seem cluttered, but the fact it can handle all these at once is a blessing in disguise. Plus, theres a dedicated button to turn off the traction control, for when you want to get a bit naughty on the empty country roads. Now the option is easier than ever.

Final Verdict

The Honda CB650R beautifully marries the legacy of the straight-four engine with contemporary needs. With a sound like no other, this is a bike for those looking to relive a golden era of biking.

If this bike review has got you fiending to check out a Honda CB650R of your own, Wheels Motorcycles is the UKs number one destination for brand new and used motorcycles to fuel your passion for two wheels. Situated in East Anglia, our range of bikes spans the worlds greatest brands, from Kawasaki to Aprilla, Suzuki to, yes, Honda. SMART RACING 2023 BSB SEASON REPORT

We are very proud to have sponsored the &#039;Smart Racing&#039; BSB Team. The season is over, and we are excited to share the great results!

Here&#039;s what Lewis Smart thinks about the Championship :

Round 1- Silverstone: &quot;We started off the year at Silverstone for Round 1 but not where wewanted to be, finishing P19 and P16.&quot;

Round 2- Donington: &quot; We went into Round 2 at Donington, where something clicked and came we away with a P5 and P8 place finish in the races.

Round 3- Knockhill: &quot;We carried the momentum from the previous round into the weekend at Knockhill. I was filled with confidence, and again, I was inside the top 10 for both races.&quot;

Round 4- Donington: &quot;A great round at Donington WSBK, but this time being inside the top 6 for the whole weekend and managed to lead the race for the first time, which felt weird. I finished P5 in the first race and was unfortunately disqualified from the second race.&quot;

Round 5- Snetterton: &quot;After the disqualification in the previous round, I had to start from the back of the grid in race one even though I put a qualifying time of P6. In this race I started from P31 and finished P12, and then in Race 2, we managed to get our first podium of the season, finishing in P3; what a feeling that was!&quot;

Round 6- Brands Hatch: On my birthday weekend, I had a strong weekend again, but unfortunately, in the first race, the choice to have a wet front tyre was the wrong choice, and I finished in P10. A solid second race; I started in P18 and managed to finish in P4. I was thrilled with the finish.&quot;

Round 7- Oulton: &quot;Another good weekend for us, getting the lap times down as the weekend went on. I finished in P8 and P4 which again I was happy with.&quot;

Round 8- Donington: &quot;Our best weekend of the year was our first WIN in the class, with which we were over the moon. I rode well and led nearly all of the race. Then, in race 2, I finished in P5.&quot;

Smart Racing finished 6th overall in the Championship! It was a massive year for the team, and we&#039;re proud to sponsor one of our own.

6 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR MOTORCYCLE IN TOP SHAPE DURING WINTER

Winter can be a challenging season for motorcycle enthusiasts. The cold temperatures, road salt, and moisture can take a toll on your prized machine. To ensure your motorcycle remains in peak condition during the winter months, follow these six essential tips:

Winterizing Fluids:Start by changing the oil and filter before winter sets in. Cold weather can thicken the oil, making it less effective. Consider using a winter-grade oil that is designed for lower temperatures. Additionally, ensure your coolant is the right mix to prevent freezing.
Battery Maintenance: The cold can be hard on your motorcycle&#039;s battery. To prevent a dead battery, disconnect it and store it in a warm, dry place. Consider using a battery maintainer/optimiserto keep it charged and in good condition.
Tire Inspection: Cold weather can lead to a drop in tyre pressure, affecting traction. Regularly check your tyre pressure and maintain it according to the manufacturer&#039;s recommendations. Consider using winter tyres designed to provide better grip on cold and wet surfaces.
Rust Prevention: Road salt and moisture are your motorcycle&#039;s worst enemies. Before winter begins, apply a rust inhibitor to any exposed metal parts. This will help protect against corrosion. Regularly wash and dry your motorcycle to remove any salt buildup.
Storage Solutions: Whenever possible, store your motorcycle in a dry, temperature-controlled environment. If indoor storage isn&#039;t an option, use a quality motorcycle cover to protect it from the elements. Elevate the motorcycle on a stand to prevent flat spots on the tires.
Starting and Running the Engine: During extended periods of inactivity, it&#039;s a good idea to start your motorcycle periodically and let it run for a short time. This helps lubricate the engine components and prevents fuel system issues. Be sure to use high-quality fuel stabilizers to keep the fuel fresh.

By following these six tips, you can keep your motorcycle in excellent condition during the winter months. Proper winterization not only ensures your bike is ready to hit the road when spring arrives but also extends its overall lifespan. So, prepare your motorcycle, embrace the winter riding experience, and look forward to many more enjoyable rides in the future.

5 TIPS FOR SAFE WINTER RIDING

Winter riding can be a thrilling experience, but it also comes with its unique set of challenges and risks. To stay safe on your motorcycle during the colder months, follow these five essential tips:

Prepare Your Motorcycle: Start by ensuring your motorcycle is winter-ready. Check your tyres&#039; condition and pressure, and consider switching to winter tires for better grip on cold, wet, and potentially icy roads. Ensure all lights and signals are working correctly, and your brakes are in top shape. It&#039;s also a good idea to equip your bike with heated grips to keep your hands warm during your rides.

Dress for the Weather: Proper attire is essential for winter riding. Invest in quality cold-weather gear, including thermal and waterproof riding suits, thermal gloves, and a full-face helmet with a fog-resistant visor. Layering your clothing can help you stay warm without sacrificing mobility. Don&#039;t forget to wear high-visibility gear to enhance your visibility to other road users.

Adjust Your Riding Style: Winter roads can be slick, so it&#039;s crucial to adjust your riding style. Increase your following distance to give yourself more time to react to unexpected situations. Brake and accelerate gently to avoid skidding. Be mindful of shaded areas, bridges, and overpasses where ice can accumulate. Plan your routes with a focus on well-maintained, less-traveled roads to reduce the chances of encountering hazards.

Beware of Reduced Visibility: Winter brings shorter daylight hours and often poor visibility due to rain, fog, or snow. Use your motorcycle&#039;s lights effectively, and consider installing auxiliary lighting to make yourself more visible. Avoid riding in heavy precipitation if possible, and be aware that other road users may have limited visibility as well.

Regular Maintenance:Keep up with regular motorcycle maintenance, especially during winter. Cold weather can affect your motorcycle&#039;s battery, tyre pressures, and overall performance. Regularly check your battery&#039;s charge and maintain proper tyre pressures. It&#039;s also essential to keep your motorcycle clean and free from road salt and debris, as these can cause corrosion and damage.

Remember, winter riding can be challenging but also incredibly rewarding. Stay informed about weather conditions, and don&#039;t hesitate to postpone your ride if conditions become too hazardous. Your safety should always be the top priority. With the right gear and precautions, you can enjoy winter motorcycling while minimizing risks.

    <title>Get to Know EV Motorcycles</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/get-to-know-ev-motorcycles</link>
<description>From unmatched performance capabilities to incredible efficiency, electric motorcycles are setting new standards and enticing a fresh wave of enthusiasts.

The rumble of a motorcycle engine has long been an emblem of freedom, rebellion, and raw power. But as we propel forward into a cleaner and greener future, that familiar roar is evolving into a hum. Electric vehicles (EVs) have already begun their ascent in the four-wheeled automotive world, and now, they&#039;re making waves on two wheels. Motorbikes are beginning to plug into the electric revolution, redefining the way we ride. From unmatched performance capabilities to incredible efficiency, EV motorcycles are setting new standards and enticing a fresh wave of enthusiasts.

Most models are upcoming and will be released in the next year, which posies 2024 to be the Year of the EV Bike. For now, you can browse our nation-leading range of EV motorbikes at Wheels Motorcycles, and read our guide below on what to expect when transitioning to electric motorbikes and which brands are leading the way in this up-and-coming field. Browse our EV motorbike range today and see what you can do with an electric motor underneath you.

What Changes With an Electric Motorcycle?

Going electric presents many changes to how you think about a bike. For one, electric motorbikes come with removable batteries, offering an advantage in that you can quickly charge them at home without the need for a driveway. Their design includes fewer mechanical parts, eliminating common issues related to spark plugs, air filters, or timing belts. Many electric bikes don&#039;t even require a gearbox or clutch. This streamlined mechanical design also makes winter storage simpler. Performance-wise, they boast impressive torque, giving them almighty performance off the line.

However, their primary limitation is the shorter range compared to petrol bikes, requiring riders to plan longer journeys with care. Petrol motorbikes may provide a longer range, making them more suitable for extended trips. But they come with the downside of having more mechanical parts that can fail, and they don&#039;t offer the convenience in charging or storage seen in electric bikes. Weighing up these pros and cons is ultimately a matter of personal preference.

A Rundown of the Key Electric Bike Brands

It may have only just started to kick into gear, but there are already several key players looking to make the EV bike that convinces riders of their potential.

Kawasaki

Kawasaki is the first major Japanese brand to venture into the world of EV technology, with game-changing electric upshifts of its two most popular models - the Z EV and Ninja EV. Debuted as a prototype in summer 2022, few details have been made official yet, but from the look of the models, they do a bang-up job of continuing the Z and Ninjas iconic designs. The Kawasaki Ninja EV and Z EV are currently available to reserve for later in 2023 on the Wheels Motorcycles website, and the company&#039;s chief Hiroshi Ito said both models would have two 3kWh removable batteries, suggesting it will be in the 125cc class.

Maeving

Future-forward electric tech meets classic British sophistication. Maeving has been attracting the eye of many motorbike enthusiasts for its throwback to the days of Norton, Royal Enfield and the BSA Lightning. The Maeving RM1 is the flagship bike and is designed specifically for British city roads. Its upcoming RM1S variant doubles the motor power to 7kWh, so youll soon be able to handle yourself on a Maeving all over the country.

LiveWire

The EV side project of Harley Davidson, LiveWire is a definite tone shift. You wont be immersed in Americana when riding a LiveWire S2 Del Mar, but you will get a frameless design that gives it a raw, industrial feel and shaves off weight. That pays off in the stats, too, with a 0-60mph time of just over three seconds. The LiveWire electric motorcycle still shares some of the DNA of a Harley Davidson, as with 70 miles of range and a quick charge-up time, there is still potential for grand tour-style cruises on one of these bikes.

KTM

With the way they experiment with the track-day experience, it should be no surprise that Austrian brand KTM would be leading the charge for electric motorbikes. Their primary model is the KTM E-Duke, which is currently still under development and is being kept quiet for now. What we do know is that it has a 10kWh motor and that it will surely make waves once it does arrive.

Triumph

As the UKs biggest motorbike manufacturer, Triumph has a responsibility to be at the forefront of the industry. It has been diligently doing so with the Triumph TE-1, which aims to show how electric power can provide immense speed. Triumph boasts that the TE-1 has 100 miles of range and can charge from 0-80% in just 20 minutes, but the performance trumps this convenient range solution. Triumph reckons itll do 0-100mph in 6.2 seconds - in other words, blisteringly quick.

Wheels Motorcycles will continue to follow the growing EV motorbike space, and you can browse the Wheels Motorcycles collection of new and used motorbikes to see how incredible riding experiences you can get yourself today.

The same winning formula is repeated with the Aprilia RS 457, which began as a completely new project, conceived and developed where all Aprilias are created, including MotoGP bikes. The new Aprilia is the ideal link between the first 125 engines and the RS 660. It completes the RS family that includes the powerful V4 superbikes and, at its most technologically advanced, the MotoGP-winning RS-GP.

The Aprilia RS 457 speaks the language of younger riders, of people who want to start riding faired bikes, exploiting all of the company&#039;s expertise to design and build a true sports bike.

This motorbike&#039;s strengths are its lightness, with the highest possible power-to-weight ratio for a bike you can ride with an A2 licence, ease of handling, and technological equipment. The RS 457 is designed to accompany motorcyclists as they progress on road and track. The ergonomics feature clip-on handlebars mounted above the upper steering plate, a road sports solution that provides the best compromise between sportiness and riding comfort.

The new RS 457&#039;s styling follows the legendary RS range, the supersport bikes that made motorbike history, starting with the double front fairing through to the underbelly silencer, with a 2-in-1 exhaust.

The full LED front headlamp incorporates the light signature typical of Aprilia&#039;s larger super sports bikes, while the front turn signals are integrated into the front headlamp&#039;s light signature. The dashboard uses an elegant and practical 5-inch TFT colour instrument cluster, while the handlebar controls are backlit.

The Aprilia RS 457 is powered by a state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled parallel twin-cylinder engine, double camshaft timing and four valves per cylinder, delivering 35 kW of power, the maximum possible for a bike you can ride with an A2 license. Besides the pure power figure, there is also the motorbike&#039;s weight: 159 kg dry, rising to 175 wet.

The Aprilia RS 457&#039;s power-to-weight ratio is simply unbeatable because the designers at Noale aimed for the maximum possible and achieved it. This figure was translated into pure performance during road development at Aprilia&#039;s Noale headquarters.

The new engine is paired with a stiff frame. The aluminium frame makes the RS 457 unique for bikes in its segment. All of Aprilia&#039;s design expertise, honed over decades of victories on all the world&#039;s racetracks, goes into this solution. The crankcase functions as a load-bearing element, a solution borrowed from the RS 660, which ensures the low weight, dynamic qualities and riding pleasure that have made Aprilia famous.

The 41 mm fork features 120 mm travel and preload adjustability. Ditto for the monoshock, which works on the steel swingarm, adjustable in preload, for 130 mm wheel travel. The braking system features a 320 mm front disc with a ByBre radial-mount 4-piston caliper.

At the rear, the ByBre caliper brakes a 220 mm steel disc. All this is assisted by a two-channel ABS system with dual map of use, on both wheels or only on the front.

The 17-inch sports rims mount 110/70 tyres at the front and 150/60 at the rear, perfect sizes for excellent grip while maintaining agility, the true strength of the new Aprilia.

The Aprilia RS 457s electronic equipment is of a true sports bike, designed for a wide range of bikers and entirely faithful to Aprilia tradition. The Ride by Wire system which Aprilia was the first to introduce both in MotoGP with the futuristic RS Cube and in production manages the engine with three riding modes that intervene on power and torque delivery and traction control, adjustable to three levels and that can also be disabled. The quickshifter comes as an accessory.

    <title>BSB: A Recap of the 2023 Season So Far</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/bsba-recap-of-the-2023-season-so-far</link>
    <description>
The 2023 British Superbikes (BSB) season has undoubtedly kept us all on the edge of our seats. As the main season has drawn to a close, we find ourselves at the precipice of The Showdown. Here, every race session counts for even more, as points positions award increased points, and the race winner bags an extra seven points to boost their tally.

However, theres been so many moments to relive and so much analysis to unpack already. As we gear up for the climactic final three races of this year&#039;s BSB championship, let&#039;s take a moment to look back at the season that was and brace ourselves for the electrifying finish that awaits.

Ducati Dominance

BSB has been well and truly rocked by the impeccable performance of BeerMonster Ducati, who have been flying this season. Tommy Bridewell sits comfortably at the top of the championship and teammate Glenn Irwin completes the dominant duo at the top with a second-place spot as things stand.

The teams ascent wasnt immediate, as they faced fierce competition from Australia&#039;s speedster, Josh Brookes for FHO Racing BMW, in the early rounds. This rivalry ignited the tracks, but with consistently fast qualifying results, Ducatis perseverance and dedication shone through at every twist and turn.

A standout moment that encapsulates their breathtaking season performance was Bridewell&#039;s grand slam at Snetterton. Sweeping all three races, he not only displayed his individual brilliance but also underscored the team&#039;s dominating presence this season.

As we look forward to the remaining races, one thing is certain: BeerMonster Ducati has set the gold standard this year, and their competitors have some serious catching up to do.

Disappointment For Yamaha

LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha are the reigning champions in BSB after last years season with Bradley Ray, but Ray has left for World Superbikes. This year, without their star rider, theyve been second best at almost every turn to Ducati. There have been some moments where they have come out on top, such as when Aussie driver Jason O&#039;Halloran achieved a trifecta of race victories at Thruxton, but it will take something special to take the championship at this stage.

Elsewhere, Mar-Train Racing Yamaha has a one-man team of Jack Kennedy, who graduates from the British Supersport Championship as the most successful rider of all time. Naturally, hopes have been high for the Irish rider but has struggled to make an impact this season so far. With his best result being a fourth-place finish at Brands Hatch, he sits 10th in the standings.

Despite individual team performance, Yamaha bikes have dominated the season alongside Ducati. Aside from BMW Motorrads two race wins in the early rounds, Yamaha and Ducati have won every race this season, which speaks to how consistently Yamaha still provides race-winning performance. If you are looking for a Yamaha bike of your own to experience all of its might and power for a reduced price, browse our collection of used Yamaha bikes online today.

Kawasakis New Stars

Theres a theme of Kawasakis teams looking towards the future with their 2023 roster. Bradley Perie has stamped his authority on the British Supersport Championship and has earned himself a spot at Lee Hardy Racing. Recent performances have bagged him consecutive points finishes, indicating a promising trajectory.

On the other hand, Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki is now joined by reigning Pirelli Junior Superstock Champion Max Cook. Hes been a revelation for the mid-table team and has captured attention with his scintillating drives, most notably two impressive fourth-placed finishes at Thruxton.

If you see your future with Kawasaki as well, take a look at Wheels Motorcycles awe-inspiring range of Kawasaki motorbikes. Now stocking the brand new Vulcan S Special editions, our store is paired with our workshop full of expert mechanics, as well as the latest diagnostic technology to handle Kawasaki bikes. This way, youll be sure to receive and keep your motorcycle running in top condition for years to come.

Wildcard Honda

MasterMac by Hawk Racing Honda was responsible for one of the highlights of the season at the Thruxton sprint race. Charlie Nesbitt was locked in a blow-for-blow fight with LAMI OMG Racings Ryan Vickers that extended into the final lap. As the field yo-yod between positions, Nesbitt saw an opportunity on the home straight and powered through to second with a photo finish in the sprint race. It was his first BSB podium finish, and supported by the power of Honda, was a hard-fought 2nd place.

The next race weekend is at Oulton Park on September 15-17th and while were all itching to see how the season ends, browse the Wheels Motorcycles collection of new and used motorbikes to experience the same thrills as you see on track for an affordable price with quality aftercare service.

The series will feature as part of the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship calendar, giving young riders a chance to race in front of huge crowds at the best circuits in the UK.

The new Kawasaki British Superteen class will be open to riders aged between 15 and 20 and will run across eight double-header rounds, at the UKs premier circuits, including a planned World Superbike support race. With riders on equal machinery, the series will be a thrilling spectacle for fans trackside, while the high-revving characteristic of the 4-cylinder 400cc Supersport machine is perfect for helping young riders develop their skills as part of the worlds most competitive domestic series. The overall winner of the 2024 Superteen class Championship will receive a brand-new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R road bike.

Each race bike competing in the series will be built by Kawasaki Team Green Technical Partner, MSS Performance, who will also offer a choice of two packages to suit every budget. Eager to make this a fair and competitive option for going racing, package prices will begin at under12,000 plus VAT.

The series was officially launched today at Brands Hatch, with the very first Ninja ZX-4RR in the UK, which has been built to race spec, available to view in Pit Lane throughout the weekend. Members of staff from Kawasaki UK and MSS Performance will also be in attendance all weekend for any riders and teams interested in joining the Championship next season.

Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing &amp; Racing Department at Kawasaki UK:
As soon as we saw this model on the productionplan, we knew it was destined for the race track! To have the BSB Championship promoter MSVR on board and enabling us to have a class entirely devoted to this bike is fantastic!

We are excited to be able to offer a competitively priced and exciting race package to young riders looking to develop their racing careers. The Team Green ethos has always been about supporting young talent and offering opportunities on track, so we cannot wait to take this one step further with this new class in 2024.

Stuart Higgs, Bennetts British Superbike Championship Series Director:
It is 32 years since the British circuit promoters launched the first Superteen Championship, and within the entry list was James Haydon, David Jefferies, John McGuiness and Michael Rutter. We are tremendously excited to bring the Superteen name back to British Championship status. Together with our partner Kawasaki UK we are re-calibrating this most important entry level class with a new motorcycle that will benefit team and rider development, and importantly be contained to tight budget and regulations parameters. <title>Are Touring Motorcycles Right For Me</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/are-touring-motorcycles-right-for-me</link>
    <description>

Touring motorcycles are a special breed of bike primed for long-distance travel, but which models are best suited for beginners?

Are you searching for the perfect companion for your adventure on the open road, exploring new horizons, and experiencing the thrill of long-distance travel on two wheels? Touring motorcycles are the answer.

These world-beating motorbikes are designed to conquer continent-spanning distances in comfort and style. But before you dive headlong into the world of touring bikes, it&#039;s essential to find out whether they are the right fit for you and your aspirations.

Read on to explore the ins and outs of touring motorcycles, define what they are, answer whether they are suitable for beginners, and find out the best touring motorcycle that matches your preferences. Youll be ready to take on any distance after this blog.

What Defines a Touring Motorcycle?

Touring motorcycles are a special breed of bike primed for long-distance travel. Think of a Harley Davidson cruising through winding mountains with the rider admiring a picturesque view of the nature, towns and ocean below. Road trips are its element, and it can even be for travelling across countries if need be.

Youll be able to distinguish a touring motorcycle by its large displacement fairings and more relaxed, upright seating position than sport bikes. They also sport windshields that offer panoptic weather and wind protection, large-capacity fuel tanks for long journeys and an engine tuned for low-end horsepower.

There are specific types of touring motorcycles tailored to different experiences. Full-dress tourers are the ultimate machine for comfort with even larger flairs, more luggage space and luxuries like radio and sat nav. Meanwhile, adventure tourers have higher ground clearance to handle off-road conditions as well as a large fuel tank, and sports tourer motorcycles are a crossbreed between a sports bike and tourer that beefs up the performance. Whichever appeals to you, you should know that these bikes have different levels of difficulty, and beginner riders may struggle with particular touring motorcycle types.

Are Touring Motorcycles Good For Beginners?

Touring bikes can be challenging for beginners, as the heavier build requires more strength and confidence to handle effectively. However, a great alternative for this is lightweight adventure bikes like the Honda CB500X and Suzuki V-Strom 650. The former is very forgiving if you mishandle the throttle, while the latter has larger wheels to give you immense amounts of control even in the dirt. Both have anti-lock braking systems (ABS) for enhanced stability.

Are Touring Motorcycles Good For Experienced Riders?

The bulkier frame of traditional touring motorcycles is safer for more experienced riders. If you can handle the sheer power and weight of these machines, theres a host of touring motorcycles for sale that offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

For example, the Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT is seen by many hail it as the greatest touring bike of all time. Equipped with a smooth-running 1833cc engine, its automatic 7-speed transmission may seem like a beginners feature, but it has converted die-hards to enjoy a more laidback way of riding.

Equally, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello is one of the marvels of the motorbike world. A sports tourer with more power behind it compared to a standard touring bike, this Italian machine has won riders over with its sublime sense of style and balanced output of power that covers all the bases.

Which Touring Motorcycles Are Best For Me?

For beginner riders who want to experience touring motorcycling, we recommend the aforementioned Honda CB500X and Suzuki V-Strom 650. These motorcycles offer a restrained balance between performance and manoeuvrability, making them ideal choices for those who are new to long-distance riding.

Meanwhile, if you are a battle-hardened motorcycle enthusiast who wants to have the finest in touring motorcycles, the Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT and Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello are your answers as well as the Kawasaki Sports Tourer range. From the Ninja H2 to the Ninja 1000 SX, Kawasaki has a sweeping array of touring motorcycles that are all exceptional in their own unique ways. To find out more about our Kawasaki touring motorbikes for sale, visit our dedicated Kawasaki Sports Tourer page today.

    <title> New Ninja ZX-6R for 2024 Kawasaki range </title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/new-ninja-zx-6r-for-2024-kawasaki-range</link>
    <description>

An iconic name appears in the Kawasaki motorcycle range for the 2024 sales season with the announcement of a new Ninja ZX-6R and its tagline Supersport Obsession.

Boasting a number of features not so far seen on the much-loved Supersport middleweight in previous iterations, the 2024 model has both technical and styling updates ready to satisfy the needs of even the most demanding street or track day rider. And with the aid of Kawasakis iconic Ram Air system a stunning maximum of 95.2 kW {129 PS} is produced at 13,000 rpm.

The most obvious aspect of the new machine is the distinctive aero-winglet equipped Ninja face with purposeful aggressive lines incorporating for the first time hybrid projector/reflector headlights (part of a complete LED lighting package), and a new sports windshield equipped with special cut outs to reduce buffeting. The entire bodywork for 2024 uses interwoven layers to create a 3D effect, with the multiple layers adding to a high-class design.

In terms of the cockpit area, a new 4.3inch (11cm) colour TFT meter makes its debut and also facilitates Smartphone connectivity via Kawasakis Rideology App. Information updates such as a shift light, Kawasaki service reminder, oil change reminder, Riding Mode indicator, Smartphone call and mail notices are all available. Also featured along with all the familiar vehicle status updates are a Bluetooth indicator and an Economical Riding Indicator.

From a technical perspective, the famous and highly praised 636 cm3 liquid-cooled, 4-stroke in-line four forms the core of the machine and now features revised cam profiles to satisfy stricter emission regulations plus revised intake funnels and revised header and collector pipes all combining to benefit low- to mid-rpm performance.

A move to round over petal discs reflects the current Ninja ZX-10R family image while such items as the SFF-BP (Separate function fork with big piston), KQS Kawasaki Quick Shifter, three mode KTRC traction control and both power modes and integrated riding modes underpin the high specification of this Supersport legend.

Rolling on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, the 2024 Ninja ZX-6R will be available in two colourways for the upcoming season, a green version (naturally!) in Lime Green/Ebony plus a more stealth version combining Metallic Graphite Gray and Metallic Diablo Black. For sure Kawasaki dealers and loyal fans of the Ninja family will welcome the sight of a new and comprehensively updated Ninja ZX-6R for 2024 keeping the Ninja flame burning brightly.

The 2024 Ninja ZX-6R will be available from October and priced at 10,599.

The sensational four cylinders of the RR Nrburgring roar to life thanks to the full titanium exhaust system, developed on the basis of the Superbike experience by partner Arrow and is included in the kit. Instead of the usual 4-in-1 scheme, the designers opted for a 4-in-2, with the very long primary manifold in order to develop as much torque as possible. All this to focus on optimising weight, the criteria that was the inspiration for the whole bike. The kit includes the control unit with dedicated map.

WICKED ELECTRONICS

Customisation and control: the directives for improving the bikes electronic equipment even more. With just a few taps on your smartphone screen, you can choose your preferred driving mode, thanks to the MV Ride App and the connectivity guaranteed by the instrument cluster with the large 5.5 TFT colour display. Everything is customisable and every parameter is under control, for a unique driving experience, even on the legendary asphalt of the Nrburgring.

    <title>THE NEW HAYABUSA. ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE.</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/the-new-hayabusa-ultimate-performance-</link>
<description>Ultimate Performance is the perfect balance between power and poise, and between the rider and the bike. Abundant power and torque in any gear and at any speed. Chassis and running gear for nimble handling to put the rider in full control. And all skilfully wrapped in a bold design with an aggressive stance that highlights its luxurious details.

NOTHING COMES CLOSE
Famed for its abundant power, agility and majestic presence. Legendary for establishing new levels of performance, and for retaining the number one position for the past two decades in the class it created. Fast forward to today. Total commitment and tireless effort give birth to a new generation perfectly poised to carry riders into the future. Its riding experience features even stronger power delivery and nimbler handling, a collection of the latest electronic systems designed to optimise performance and make the Hayabusa more controllable and predictable. All this wrapped in a package that will instantly turn heads with its breathtaking style.

LEGENDARY POWER AND PUNCH
The Hayabusas 1,340cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine achieves an even better balance of overall performance, with greater efficiency and durability, while also satisfying Euro 5 emissions standards.

Inheriting the legacy of the Ultimate Sports Bike that established the category in 1999, the Hayabusa continues to deliver some of the highest torque and power at engine speeds typically used while road riding. A symbol of engineering pride and prowess, it is built to deliver the ultimate riding experience for the long run.

PERFECTLY POISED
At the core of this outstanding chassis is the Hayabusas aluminium frame and swingarm. A proven combination of extruded aluminium sections and aluminium castings lend the right amount of suppleness and strength to the overall rigid alloy frame structure. While more costly and demanding to fabricate, extruded aluminium sections achieve the overall balance required by a machine that delivers ultimate performance and reaches a nominal top speed of 186mph. The Hayabusas chassis is designed to empower you with sure footing, sharp handling and predictable control that combine to build confidence and enhance the riding experience. With its 50:50 weight distribution it effectively transfers the abundant power of its legendary powerplant to the road.

BREMBO STYLEMA BRAKES
The Hayabusa uses Brembos latest Stylema front brake calipers. Featuring a lighter, more compact and carefully sculpted design intended for use on high-performance motorcycles, these calipers increase airflow around the brake pads to cool more quickly and deliver immediate response. These are paired with front discs with a diameter of 320mm and featuring a hole pattern that helps optimise cooling efficiency.

POISED FOR ACTION
KYB inverted cartridge forks provide 120mm of front wheel travel and feature Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating on the 43mm inner fork tubes to reduce friction and improve reaction to small irregularities in the road surface. Spring preload, compression damping and rebound damping are all fully adjustable. The internal structure has been upgraded to better absorb the road surface and ensure an even smoother, more stable ride with optimum grip. The internal structure of the fully adjustable KYB link-type rear suspension is also revised to maximise comfort and straight-line stability.

OPTIMUM CONTROL AND COMFORT
Mounting the handlebars 12mm closer to the rider vastly improves comfort and reduces fatigue, particularly when touring or taking long rides. It also enhances handling when enjoying a sporty ride by giving the rider better feedback on how well the front tyre is gripping the road, by better supporting the riders posture to improve stability when braking, and by offering the rider greater freedom in movement to control cornering.

SUZUKI INTELLIGENT RIDE SYSTEM (SIRS)
Hayabusa adopts an advanced new version of the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) and a six axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). A complete collection of electronic systems designed to optimise performance characteristics to match the needs of the moment and make the Hayabusa more controllable, predictable and enjoyable. Riders can opt for settings that best suit riding conditions, road surfaces and their level of confidence and experience.

MOTION TRACK TRACTION CONTROL
This technology is adopted directly from the traction control system Suzuki developed for the GSX-RR in MotoGP racing. This takes traction control to a new level by employing data from the IMU to constantly monitor the amount of lean angle and effectively limit slip in corners as well as on straights. It provides greater stability at all times, enabling confident control in varying riding conditions while reducing stress and fatigue. The system offers a choice of 10 mode settings, and it can be turned off when preferred. The higher number the mode, the faster traction control is engaged and the more proactive the system is in limiting wheel spin.

    <title>21YM HONDA GL1800 GOLD WING</title>
    <link>https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/aprilia/news/21ym-honda-gl1800-gold-wing</link>
<description>The Gold Wings engine and chassis were designed in unison for the 2018 rebirth, to move the riding position forward and create a much more compact motorcycle. The aluminium beam frame is constructed around a double wishbone front fork, which allows the engine to sit forward in the machine as the front wheel moves up and down in a more vertical plane while providing high quality suspension control and front-end stability thanks to its stiffness and reduced friction.

Optimised for size, the 24V flat six-cylinder engine lost none of its power, avalanche of torque or addictive power delivery. The addition of Throttle By Wire (TBW) control brought with it 4 rider modes: TOUR, SPORT, ECON and RAIN; the operation of the Dual Combined Brake System (D-CBS) alters depending on the mode selected. Hill Start Assist (HSA) and (on the DCT option) Idling Stop offer ease of use and improved fuel efficiency.

The manual transmission is 6-speed, while DCT features 7 speeds, with clutch feel, shift speed and rpm range of up/downshifts tailored specifically to each riding mode. It also features a creep forward and back function. The manual machine employs the same electric reverse system as featured on previous designs.

The Gold Wing offers a total sense of freedom, with sheer riding enjoyment and performance matched by stylish design. An aerodynamically efficient fairing channels air around the rider, while the electric screen adjusts for preference; the luxurious seats offer all-day comfort. The lightweight audio system and speakers show off newly upgraded sound quality. And features like Smart Key operation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth provide modern-day convenience and connectivity.

The 2021 GL1800 Gold Wing is available in a contemporary new Pearl Deep Mud Grey colour scheme, with orange accents on the front fender, engine cover, headlight surround, fuel tank and rear section.
